Summary:Despite all of the attention being paid to the issue of disparity in health care, US society (including both the public and private sectors) is failing in its stated pursuit of eliminating disparities. In fact, the trends are moving in the direction opposite to the one being pursued. This failure does not occur in a vacuum. Rather, essential structural issues stand in the way of reducing disparities.
