Summary:[...] EPA developed an interim guidance document that outlines the regulatory development process, and provides regulatory analysts and managers with guidance to ensure that environmental justice is considered throughout the process. 2 Second, EPA initiated the process of developing technical direction to aid regulatory analysts and managers in their assessment of environmental health disparities within the context of analysis to support policy choices in regulatory development. Critical to the latter process is developing a common understanding of how racial/ethnic minorities and low-income populations may experience disproportionate environmental health impacts. [...] in 2009, EPA's Office of Environmental Justice identified 7 issues or factors that may contribute to the environmental health disparities that are the target of EO 12898 and commissioned scientific papers to elucidate various aspects of the state of scientific knowledge for each issue or topic area.
