Description
Summary:The open reading frame of fanD codes for a polypeptide of 783 amino acid residues including an amino-terminal signal sequence. The calculated molecular mass of the mature FanD protein is 84549 dalton. The amino acid sequence of the FanD protein was compared with the amino acid sequence of FaeD, the large outer membrane protein encoded by the K88 operon. Both proteins show a significant sequence homology (28% of the positions contain an identical, predominantly non-charged, amino acid residue). Furthermore, one alpha -helix transmembrane sequence and several comparable transmembrane beta -sheets were predicted. Both proteins contain a disulfide bridge in their amino- and carboxyterminal sequence.
