Summary:A large evacuated drum-like chamber fitted with supersonic nozzles in the center, with the chamber and the nozzles corotating, can separate gaseous fluids according to their molecular weights. The principle of separation is essentially the same as that of the solar wind propagation, in which components of the plasma fluid are separated due to their difference in the time-of-flight. The process can inherently be very efficient, serving as a pump as well as a separator, and producing well over 105separative work units (kg/year) for the hydrogen/deuterium mixture at high-velocity flows.
