Summary: | Sir, Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder characterized by refusal to maintain a healthy body weight and an obsessive fear of gaining weight. Earlier, the reporting of cases of Anorexia nervosa from non-western countries like India, was fewer, and this can be attributed to a number of protective biologic factors, as also the socio-cultural norms of the country, with a good family support system and emphasis on good nutrition and health. |
