Summary:The effects of organochlorine insecticides on populations of microorganisms have received considerable attention. The cytological and biochemical effects of these insecticides are important in order to understand their mode of action. Thus, the compilation of data pertaining to cytological and biochemical effects of organochlorine insecticides is needed. The present review aims to bring together the available information on the accumulation, metabolism, and effects of the organochlorine insecticides in relation to microorganisms.
