Summary:To determine if renal autotransplantation is an effective treatment for the loin pain-hematuria syndrome. Retrospective chart review. Tertiary care referral centre in Manitoba. Four patients referred for diagnosis and management of loin pain-hematuria syndrome. Follow-up for each of the four was 2, 24, 29 and 48 months. Renal autotransplantation. Relief of pain with preservation of renal function and blood pressure. All four patients experienced relief of the pain of loin pain-hematuria syndrome. Renal function was preserved and blood pressure maintained. Narcotic analgesia was discontinued in all cases. Renal autotransplantation appears to be an effective treatment for patients with loin pain-hematuria syndrome.
