[...]diffusion weighted imaging showed restricted diffusion in the entire cortex and internal capsule ( figure 1 B, C) consistent with extrapontine myelinolysis, an osmotic demyelination syndrome that may follow rapid correction of sodium in hyponatraemic patients.
