Contributions of the Kölliker–Fuse nucleus to coordination of breathing and swallowing

Highlights • The effects of pontine lesioning were tested in an unanesthetized adult goat model. • The relationship of respiratory rhythm resetting by swallows was altered by pontine lesions. • Effects of pontine lesions were site-specific, with greatest effects in Kölliker–Fuse nucleus.
