Sensitization to the locomotor stimulant effects of “bath salt” constituents, 4‐methylmethcathinone (4-MMC) and 3,4-methylenedioxypyrovalerone (MDPV), in male Sprague-Dawley rats

Highlights • Locomotor activity sensitized to MDPV and to low dose mixtures of 4-MMC and MDPV. • Cross‐sensitization to cocaine was evident following exposure to MDPV and 4-MMC. • Studies on the abuse liability of synthetic cathinone mixtures may be warranted.
