Description
Summary:Highlights • The use of T tube for blunt and iatrogenic injuries has been well described however its use in penetrating trauma setting has rarely been reported. • T tube drainage can be used in penetrating trauma setting in both acute and delayed presentations as an effective treatment option for oesophageal defects. • In settings where primary repair cannot be under taken due to extensive inflammation and in hemodynamically unstable patients T tube provides a safe and invaluable treatment option. • T tube acts as a controlled fistula allowing drainage reducing contamination and preventing fulminant mediastinitis.
