Summary:A review of the prevalence of adequate allocation concealment in randomized controlled trials and its association with the statistical significance of trial results is presented. The adoption of the CONSORT statement by many major medical journals encourages better reporting of allocation concealment, which is the separation of randomization from the recruitment of participants in a medical trial.
