Description
Summary:Rohailla et al cite that intravesical therapy involving bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) is standard of care for high-grade, noninvasive urothelial carcinoma, with reported cure rates higher than 70%. Systemic infection occurs in less than 5% of patients and likely involves hematogenous spread from the instillation site, promoted by local cystitis, traumatic catheterization or a bleeding site in the bladder. Infection of an aortic aneurysm is uncommon, but should be considered when patients present with back pain after BCG therapy.
