Summary: | Harris et al present a guideline update for heart failure management in general practice. Heart failure (HF) is a clinical syndrome caused by a structural or functional cardiac abnormality and results in reduced cardiac output or elevated intracardiac pressures. It affects approximately 900 000 patients in the UK. Previously, HF was divided into those patients with left ventricular (LV) systolic impairment on transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) and those with preserved ejection fraction.
