The mean value from the three measurements at all three parameters was statistically significant with preterm birth (p<0.05). Cervical length <25mm, was highly significant in the prediction of preterm labor with a sensitivity of 99%, specificity of 61%, positive predictive value (PPV) of 78%, negative predictive value (NPV) of 97 %, and a positive likelihood ratio (LR+) of 2.54 and negative likelihood ratio (LR-) of 0.02. CCI also remains, despite low specificity and PPV values, a potential predictive parameter in the prediction of preterm birth, with a sensitivity of 73%, NPV of 92% and a LR+of 1.32 and LR- of 0.6 also correlated with CL, CCI being more difficult to interpret as an independent predictive parameter.
CL remains the standard parameter for predicting the preterm birth, but in combination with other parameters, the prediction rate can increase significantly.</description><identifier>ISSN: 2067-0656</identifier><identifier>EISSN: 2069-4032</identifier><identifier>DOI: 10.12865/CHSJ.48.02.04</identifier><identifier>PMID: 36320871</identifier><language>eng</language><publisher>Romania: Medical University Publishing House Craiova</publisher><subject>Original Paper</subject><ispartof>Current health sciences journal, 2022-04, Vol.48 (2), p.162-168</ispartof><rights>Copyright © 2014, Medical University Publishing House Craiova.</rights><rights>Copyright © 2014, Medical University Publishing House Craiova 2014</rights><lds50>peer_reviewed</lds50><oa>free_for_read</oa><woscitedreferencessubscribed>false</woscitedreferencessubscribed></display><links><openurl>$$Topenurl_article</openurl><openurlfulltext>$$Topenurlfull_article</openurlfulltext><thumbnail>$$Tsyndetics_thumb_exl</thumbnail><linktopdf>$$Uhttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9590368/pdf/$$EPDF$$P50$$Gpubmedcentral$$Hfree_for_read</linktopdf><linktohtml>$$Uhttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9590368/$$EHTML$$P50$$Gpubmedcentral$$Hfree_for_read</linktohtml><link.rule.ids>230,314,723,776,780,881,27903,27904,53769,53771</link.rule.ids><backlink>$$Uhttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/36320871$$D View this record in MEDLINE/PubMed$$Hfree_for_read</backlink></links><search><creatorcontrib>Camen, Ioana Victoria</creatorcontrib><creatorcontrib>Manolea, Maria Magdalena</creatorcontrib><creatorcontrib>Vrabie, Sidonia Catalina</creatorcontrib><creatorcontrib>Sandulescu, Maria Sidonia</creatorcontrib><creatorcontrib>Serbanescu, Mircea Sebastian</creatorcontrib><creatorcontrib>Boldeanu, Mihail Virgil</creatorcontrib><creatorcontrib>Novac, Liliana</creatorcontrib><creatorcontrib>Istrate-Ofiteru, Anca Maria</creatorcontrib><creatorcontrib>Neamtu, Simona Daniela</creatorcontrib><creatorcontrib>Dijmarescu, Anda Lorena</creatorcontrib><title>Prediction of Preterm Birth with Serial Measurements of Ultrasound Markers</title><title>Current health sciences journal</title><addtitle>Curr Health Sci J</addtitle><description>To compare the ability of cervical length (CL), anterior cervical angle (ACA), and cervical consistency index (CCI) to predict premature birth.
