Summary: | A 25-year-old Somali-born female was admitted to the hospital in active labour. Following post-partum hemorrhage, Brucella melitensis grew from a blood culture and the placenta. Identification and relatedness were determined through reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP), and whole genome sequencing. The patient and her child were completely asymptomatic at their initial assessment. |
