Description
Summary:In a previous paper, Prideaux and Woods (1932), a preliminary attempt was made to find the relationship between the combination curve of serum albumin and tire constants of some of the amino acids which are present in its molecule. It seemed probable that these relations would be further elucidated by a study of the products of deamination, by comparisons of the ordinary and formol titrations carried out on the natural and deaminated proteins, and by application of chemical theories of deamination to interpret the results. A brief account of the history of deamination and of the present position of these theories is as follows.
