Summary:Friedel-Crafts alkylation of nitrogen heterocycles such as indoles and pyrroles with epoxides has been efficiently carried out using cage-type mesoporous aluminosilicates as recyclable catalysts in water under environmentally benign and mild conditions. A facile and efficient Friedel-Crafts alkylation of nitrogen heterocycles has been reported using mesoporous aluminosilicate AlKIT-5, with 3D cage-type pores, under environmentally benign and mild conditions in aqueous medium.
