Summary:We report a "two-bird-with-one-stone" strategy for photocatalytic air purification through the positive effect of ozone by surface modification over commercial TiO 2 . The understanding of the photocatalytic degradation mechanism of volatile organic compounds is refreshed on the basis of in situ spectroscopic and theoretical studies. A "two-bird-with-one-stone" strategy by ozone modification on TiO 2 provides an approach to address the gaseous pollution with ozone and VOCs.
