Summary: | Hot stamping is a forming process for hot sheet, which is stamped using dies and which is finally quenched between the dies. It is possible to obtain rather complex shapes whilst respect in final geometry. Pre-coated USSBOR1500 developed by Arcelor was thus recommended for various automotive parts.
A simulation of this process has to integrate and link thermal, mechanical and even metallurgical analysis modules. For hot forming simulation, the calculation of the temperature evolution in the blank is crucial, because of its significant impact on the material deformation as well as on its final microstructure after phase transformation.
Tryouts on an automotive industrial part were performed in order to be compared with 3D simulations of hot stamping. |
