Summary:The Air Force has been using synthetic gas turbine lubricants, in quantity, for the last four years. The experience obtained with these lubricants, although varying, has for the most part been satisfactory. This experience has been broken down into three categories, laboratory, engine and material experience with each subject being discussed in some detail. The reasons for using synthetic lubricants and the need for improved lubricants are also discussed.
