Description
Summary:Abstract A rapid chemical equilibrium composition model was applied to calculate the main combustion products from spark-ignition engines. The kinetic concentrations of oxides of nitrogen were evaluated on the basis of their equilibrium concentrations. To validate the model, experiments were carried out in a single-cylinder research engine. Results for CO, CO2, O2 and NOX emissions show good agreement between model and experiments for varied air-fuel ratio, speed, ignition timing, compression ratio and cylinder wall temperature.
