Description
Summary:Objective: to find out the epistemological perception of university teachers about Physical Education, to contrast this approach with current literature and the needs for this subject. Methodology: A review of the reforms, standards, policies and physical education premises for the construction of a survey as a measurement instrument was performed. 41 teachers, who teach in the Undergratuate Course of Study of Physical Education, were surveyed. Results: The reliability of the instrument shows a Cronbach's alpha (.611), 64.3% of teachers thinks that the control of motor skills and movement forms necessary to participate in a variety of physical activities is very important; 54.8% considers that the assessment of the components of fitness that improve the physical performance and health is very important; 45.2% believes that regular participation in a variety of physical activities is very important. Conclusion: epistemological perception of teachers surveyed is not fully consistent with the epistemological point of view that arises internationally, so work should be done on training and reorientation of university teachers to have an epistemological point of view along with the current Physical Education
