Description
Summary:Studies considering the problem of intensive ion beam transportation on large distances are performed in the Institute of Physics, including three main aspects: (1) space charge compensation of a stationary steady state beam, (2) dynamic decompensation of a beam space charge resulting from the current modulation owing to ion source plasma instabilities, and (3) collective processes. The results presented show the summary of plasma studies regarding the positive ion beams in the absence of external fields. These results make possible the numerical simulations or the qualitative predictions of the main properties for the transported beams (boundary particles trajectories, spatial distributions of static and variable fields, emittance, etc.).
