Method for Correction of Accumulated Error in 180° Pulses in Carr‐Purcell Experiment

Description
Summary:A modified Carr‐Purcell method for measuring T 2 is described in which correction for accumulated error due to imperfect 180° pulses is made. T 2 is measured with a phase coherent pulse spectrometer set slightly off resonance. In this way the phase of the pulsed rf in relation to the Larmor frequency at the beginning of a pulse can be adjusted. The major advantages of the method are that no modifications of the spectrometer are necessary and that the amplitude of the nuclear signal seen is effectively doubled by beating with the reference rf in the receiver. The limiting criteria are discussed and are shown to be unimportant in the majority of cases.
