Description
Summary:We have investigated the effect of hydrostatic pressure ( P ) on ferromagnetic (FM) phase transition and magnetocaloric properties of ( Sm 0.8 Nd 0.2 ) 0.52 Sr 0.48 MnO 3 single crystal. At ambient pressure, the system undergoes a first order FM transition associated with large magnetic entropy change ( Δ S M ) . The temperature distribution of Δ S M exhibits an asymmetric behavior with respect to T C . The application of pressure increases magnetization, shifts the FM transition to higher temperature, and weakens the metamagnetism. As a result, | Δ S M | decreases and its thermal distribution becomes more symmetric as compared to P = 0 .
