Summary: | The current work investigates the mixed convection flow in a vertical porous annulus embedded with fluid saturated porous medium. The annulus is isothermally heated discretely at 20%, 35% and 50% of the height of cylinder at the center of annulus. Darcy law with thermal non-equilibrium approach is considered. The governing partial differential equations are solved using Finite Element Method (FEM). The effects of Peclet number Pe and conductivity ratio Kr on heat transfer and fluid flow is discussed It is found that the applied velocity in the downward direction, in case of an opposing flow, does not allow the thermal energy to reach from a hot to a cold surface. |
