Study of the size effect for non-alloy steels S235JR, S355J2+C and acid-resistant steel 1.4301

Summary: | A change in the dimensions of a specimen vs. the reference size can affect fatigue properties of a material. This phenomenon is referred to as the “size effect”. The study concerned checked how this effect can influence non-alloy steels S235JR, S355J2+C and acid-resistant steel 1.4301. Two specimen sizes and two load types were tested. Selected models of the size effect were verified to estimate fatigue strength for a cross-sectional area other than the one obtained experimentally. |
