Description
Summary:We study the principal possibility of a controllable change of the fault slip mode in slider experiments. It is shown that a slight change of the material composition and/or the rheology of a local segment of the interblock contact may lead to an essential change of slip mode parameters. One of the ways to change the rheology of a local interface segment without changing its material composition is to damp it. The efficiency of the slip mode transformation by liquid injection is determined by the material composition of a local segment exposed to the injection.
