Summary: | We report on self-assembled nanodisc formations of silica nanoparticles on a surface modified silicon substrate using modified Langmuir-Schafer deposition technique (stamping). The size, inter-particle separation as well as the packing of the silica nanoparticles within the nanodiscs formed spontaneously can be tuned by the surface pressure applied on the water surface. We obtain self-assembled nanodiscs of silica nanoparticle arranged in a hexagonal symmetry. We also observe that by varying the surface pressure of deposition at the water-molecule-air interface we obtain such 2D disc-shaped structure with varying sizes and a packing ratio of the silica nanoparticle. |
