Summary: | Magnetic nanoparticle supported phosphotungstic acid (Fe3O4@SiO2-HPW) was applied as a highly efficient catalyst for the synthesis of 14H-dibenzoxanthene derivatives via condensation reaction of 2-naphthol and aryl aldehydes. The catalyst was found highly efficient for the synthesis of xanthene derivatives under solvent free condition. The catalyst showed high activity and stability during the reaction and provided excellent yield of the corresponding products in short reaction time. All the synthesized compounds were characterized through FT-IR, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR spectroscopic techniques. Furthermore, the catalyst is magnetically recoverable and can be reused several times without significant loss of its catalytic activity. |
