Description
Summary:Indonesia is located in the very complex and active tectonic region and therefore prone to various natural hazards which caused a surface deformation. Accordingly, on the development of geodetic datum of Indonesia should take into account this conditions. Indonesian Geospatial Reference System 2013 (IGRS2013) is a semi dynamic geodetic datum that accounted the surface deformation in the form of deformation model. In order to build a deformation model of IGRS2013, its very important to study a strain rate model. In this study, we use a GPS velocities data to determine strain rate model in the Indonesia region. Our analysis reveals that Indonesia region characterized by mostly shortening strain patterns in the western Indonesia, very complex strain patterns in the eastern Indonesia with shortening and extension, while the Sunda land strain patterns show the stable area. This information is useful to supporting the development of IGRS2013 deformation model and disaster mitigation.
