Summary:This paper reports the optical properties such as refractive index, extinction coefficient, band gap etc, for nanostructured thin films of Se58Ge39Pb3 and Se58Ge36Pb6 glasses. The glasses were prepared using conventional melt quenching technique and nanostructured thin films of the samples were fabricated using physical vapor condensation method. The samples were then characterized using XRD and TEM. TEM results indicated the formation of nanorods of diameter 100-200 nm within the samples. The optical properties were studied using absorption and transmission spectra recorded in the wavelength range 400-2500nm. The results indicate decrease in band gap for Se58Ge36Pb6 glass.
