Summary:A method for iodine value (IV) determination of Refinery Bleached Deodorized Palm Oil (RBDPO) and stearin with the use of volumetric dan Fourier Transform Near Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-NIR) was compared. The volumetric analysis of iodine value used modification of AOAC Cd 1b-87 method. Validation parameters used were precision. accuracy and control chart. Precision value of IV was obtained using repeatability and %RSD by two method for RBDPO and stearin were less than 2%. The accuracy of two method for RBDPO and stearin was determined using %recovery and the results were in standard range of 98 – 102%. The control chart of volumetric and FT-NIR on IV determination was controlled in statistical review and there were no data exceed the upper and lower limits of the test. The comparison of two method was observed using t test and its result was showed no significant difference between two method for IV determination.
