Summary: | Measurement of real-time frequencies and phase differences with high accuracy is extremely important. There are a sufficient number of methods of such measurements with high accuracy, achieved through long-term averaging and complex processing, as well as real-time measurement methods with insufficiently high accuracy. Ensuring at the same time high accuracy and high performance of such measurements is a more complex scientific and technical problem, the solution of which can only be achieved by using the most efficient signal processing algorithms implemented on modern software and hardware. This article provides an analysis of such methods and recommendations for their application. The article also gives particular attention to the correctness of the application of the concepts of “accuracy”, “error”, “stability”, “reproducibility”, “non-reproducibility”, and “instability” in relation to these metrology tasks. |
