Summary: | Computational fluid dynamic models are utilized to compare the destratification capability of a simple vortex ring generator operating at two different Richardson numbers with an axial flow fan. Comparisons are also made for two orientations of the generator and fan. In the first case the device is located near the top of the tank holding the liquids to be mixed and is directed downwards while in the second case it is near the bottom of the liquid and directed upwards. The degree of mixing is determined using the variance of dimensionless temperature throughout the mixing tank. |
