Summary: | The present study investigates the preparation of a new type selective UV-filtering material through the introduction of organic fluorophore such as 2-(4-tert-butylphenyl)-5-4-biphenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole (PBD) into the matrix of collagen/PVA blends were prepared through solution casting method. ASC used in the preparation of films were isolated from the skin of Sardinellalongiceps with a yield of 2.5%. The collagen extracted and the materials were prepared and characterized by using UV, FTIR, FESEM and TGA respectively. The increase in the intensity of absorbance from 225 to 307 nm with increase in concentration of collagen indicates the UV filtering property of the prepared films. |
