Summary:The applicability of UV spectroscopy to the quantitative determination of ribavirin in aqueous solutions was demonstrated. The existence of a third conformational form of ribavirin was found, and the optimization of three ribavirin conformers was performed using the nonempirical Kohn–Sham method. It was found that, regardless of the confirmation of ribavirin molecules, the absorption maximum of its aqueous solution corresponds to 206 nm.
