Description
Summary:To ensure the safe disposal and reuse of contaminated water in dye industries we require a material which can act as photocatalyst and have the ability to absorb certain coagulations when low voltage current passes through it. To fabricate the required material, we choose friction stir casting (FSP) as a process. In this research, FSP was used to modify the surface of aluminium alloy AA 6061-T6 by reinforcing with titanium dioxide (TiO2). TiO2 nanoparticles was used as a catalyst with Al6061-T6 as a base. The aluminium alloy plates with the groove were made to accomodate the nanoparticles before FSP.The tensile test, microhardness test and wear tests proved the alterations in the properties after reinforcement. TiO2 nanoparticles were seen in the grain structure of the aluminium alloy were ensured by the microstructure analysis carried out with Field Emmission Scanning Electron Microscope.
