Summary:The receiver tube for parabolic trough collectors is one of the main components of the solar field in a thermal electric plant. Optical and thermal properties of the solar receiver tube are critical in order to assure a good energy production of the solar plant. An accurate characterization of those parameters is crucial when selecting the most suitable tube from different manufacturers. In this paper, a summary of the current testing methodologies used at CENER and TEKNIKER is given following the actual standard testing methodology in order to obtain the solar absorptance and the thermal emittance at different temperatures using different testing bench and equipment.
