Summary:The present study provides visualization outcomes for an “ion wind” interacted impinging jet and checking the feasibility of commercially available ion generator as an active flow control device. The in-house developed jet impingement facility and smoke based visualization technique were used to study the phenomenon. The results showed a prominent effect of ion wind on the low subsonic impinging jet.
