Description
Summary:Cellular automata-finite difference framework is employed to estimate the influence of the hatch distance on the resulting microstructure of 316 L austenitic stainless steel fabricated by selective laser melting. The grain structure is found to be significantly affected by the hatch distance, including both the grain morphology and crystallographic texture. The smaller the hatch distance, the more severe the texture, the smaller the number of fine grains observed in the microstructure pattern, and the more pronounced the Goss texture component in the case of employed process parameters.
