Summary: | Aluminium (Al) 6061 has unique properties of ductility and malleability with lower toughness and hardness values. The addition of nano silica into Al6061 alloy has improvement of these properties, which can be used automotive components for toughness and hardness place vital role i.e., in bearings and shafts. The aim of the present work is to investigate effect of adding nano silica particles distribution in to Al matrix through powder metallurgy route. Interfacial interactions of powders enhance the strength of composite. Powders were mixed with planetary ball milling setup. Samples were prepared though ISO Static pressing process for compaction at elevated temperatures and pre sintered in electric furnace. Post sintering time was varied for binding of two powders those were analyzed through XRD technique. Later dispersion in green component was observed and analyzed using SEM. |
