Summary: | Fins are the important component in an IC engine cylinder block which is responsible for heat removal during the combustion process via convection process. The efficient removal of heat transfer can always maintain the consistent efficiency of an IC engine. The fins are of different types which are generally used based on the heat transfer rate requirement. The main aim of the paper is to analyze the thermal properties by varying geometry and thickness of cylinder fins. To improve the rate of heat transfer thermal analysis of two designs providing slot, reducing the fin thickness and increasing no. of fins is carried out in this paper. The cylinder blocks with fins are modeled and analysis is done in CAD and FEA software. |
