description Model of Problem-Based Instruction is a learning model that uses students’ daily problems (authentic) as a context for learning that can improve problem solving ability. Based on observations at the sample school, students’ physics problem solving ability are low and students consider physics as a difficult subject to understand. Then need for learning models that can help to improve students’ physics problem solving ability. This study aims to determine the effect of using the Problem-Based lnstruction model to improve students’ physics problem solving abilities on Work and Energy material. The approach used is a quantitative approach to the type of research Quasi Experimental Design. The research subjects were students of Public High School 3 Putra Bangsa Banda Aceh that consisted of 64 students and divided into two classes, the experimental class and the control class. Data collection techniques used were test questions (pretest and posttest) and student questionnaire responses. The test result data analyzed by t-test and data from the response questionnaire were analyzed by descriptive analysis (percentage). The results showed that there was an influence on the use of the Problem- Based Instruction model to improve students’ physical problem solving abilities, and the results of students’ responses to the Problem-Based lnstruction model were very good.
