Description
Summary:A fast, economical and efficient cloud point extraction (CPE) method is presented for the enrichment of copper (II) in aqueous samples. Hydrophobic chelate was formed in the surfactant rich phase after complexing copper(II) with 2- amino derivative-1,2,3-thiadiazole (R) in presence of Triton X-11 as micellar medium. The copper content was measured by uv-visible spectrometry after all experimental conditions were optimized for CPE such as pH, concentration for (R), concentration for Triton X-114, equilibration temperature, incubation time and centrifugation (rate and time). At the optimized conditions of a 5.0 mL sample gave the enrichment factor and Sandell's sensitivity (41.6, 5.5493x10-3µg.cm-2/0.001AU) respectively. The calibration curve linear was obtained in the range of (0.9-4.2) µg.mL−1 with a correlation coefficient of (0.9994) and molar absorptivity (ε=11450.9 L.mol-1.cm-1). Precision, expressed as relative standard deviation (R.S.D, n=7, 15.36 µg.mL−1 Cu (II) ) was 1.9 %, the limit of detection was (LOD=0.11 µg.mL−1) and Limit of quantitation (LOQ=0.388 µg.mL-1).
