Summary: | The lightweight materials with high strength are gathering a great deal of attention by many researchers in recent times. Magnesium is considered to be one of the most lightest structural material. Its density is just two third to that of Aluminum. These materials are mainly preferred for their light weight properties without compromising its strength and rigidity. This work presents a brief review about the welding of magnesium alloys using various welding techniques, parameters to compare the best weld condition and also to compare the strength of the material at the weld joint. Furthermore, considerations such as cracks at weld joints, hardness, grain size and formation of intermetallic compounds are also discussed. |
