Summary: | The article deals with the issue of increasing the energy and environmental efficiency of diesel locomotives through the use of mixed fuel, in particular the addition of hydrogen to diesel fuel. The mechanism of the main chemical reactions of fuel ignition during the addition of hydrogen is considered. The results of experimental tests were carried out, allowing to assess the energy and environmental efficiency of the shunting diesel locomotive ChME3 when adding hydrogen at all modes of its operation during rheostat tests. Based on the experimental results obtained, a conclusion is made about a positive assessment of the energy and environmental efficiency of diesel locomotives when using hydrogen as an additive in the fuel-air mixture. The supply of hydrogen in the amount of 0.5 - 5% of fuel consumption can reduce the level of harmful emissions by 2 - 3.5 times and reduce the specific fuel consumption by 5.2 - 8%. |
