Summary: | By definition, minus filters remove one wavelength band from a spectrum while transmitting at both shorter and longer wavelengths. The parameters like refractive indices of materials (dielectric), combination and number of layers play an essential role in designing optical filters. In the design of any optical filters or coatings, a quarter-wave thickness (QWOT) of high (nH) and low (nL) refractive index materials is required. On the cover glass, multilayered interference filters can produce a coloured reflection while transferring all non-reflected radiation to the absorber. By simulating the optical behaviour of minus filters at wavelength λ0 with respect to normal incident light, the paper was able to achieve 99.9% reflectance for blue colour display. |
