And behind the success to discovery a new species or endemic species, mini trawl-net was working hard to collect the samples for laboratory works in the field collections. Actually, Trawling is a method of fishing that involves pulling fishing net through the water behind one or more boats but in this study the new design of mini trawl net is modification of fishing gears of beach seine, fyke net and trawl net, were designed to catch the pelagic larvae, juvenile and others small body fishes such as Oryzias (medaka) and Nomorhampus (Julung-julung), eels and shrimps were living in River and Lake system. Moreover, as the world begins its change to a more environmentally focused outlook, so the fishing gear was designed as an eco friendly fishing gear with a simple design; wings, belly and cod end as a tiny pocket can giving a chance to selected adult size of freshwater organisms for own needed. Here, we report the new design mini trawl-net as a win-win solution for all concerned fishing technique were efficient and effective to operated only by three persons and one fishing master. The fishing gear were successfully collecting the small body fishes in many areas in Sulawesi Island in a good quantity and good quality for laboratory works. |
